The Protection and Assistance Unit of JAR is currently looking for part-time interpreters and translators living in the Tokyo area to assist in its activities supporting refugees and asylum seekers.

■Task
Interpreting and translation in JAR's assistance activities for refugees/asylum seekers

■Languages required
French, Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Chinese, Dari, Farsi, Hindi, Lingala, Luganda, Nepali, Oromo, Pashto, Portuguese, Punjabi, Rohingya, Russian, Sinhala, Swahili, Tamil, Tigrinya, Turkish, Kurdish (spoken in Turkish territory), Urdu

■Qualifications for the registration as interpreter/translator
A registered interpreter/translator is required to have great command of both the language to be interpreted and either Japanese or English. At the same time he/she is expected to have a solid understanding of how to work with asylum seekers and traumatized clients, how to maintain strict confidentiality, and must be willing to engage in interpreting works with JAR.
A registered interpreter/translator is required to live near Tokyo as there is an upper limit to transportation cost.

■Fee, etc
In accordance with JAR's rules and regulations. This position is a part-time job.
