With no choice but to leave their homeland…
Last year, record numbers of refugees were forced to seek refuge in Japan. This year that number looks set to be greater still.
Many of the refugees in Japan experience cold and hunger. With little knowledge of the Japanese, no home, no job and no one on which to depend, they face a harsh reality with little hope for relief.
As the state budget for refugee support strains under the weight of the influx of those seeking protection, a large number of refugees have had their Government support cut off. With the loss of their only safety net, their situation is truly bleak.
But you can be their light this Winter.
Japan Association for
Refugees (JAR) is campaigning to ensure these refugees make it through the
Winter months. The cold and solitude that refugees suffer is felt even more
keenly during this time. Along with JAR’s ongoing support of application procedures
for refugee status, your donation will go towards providing refugees with food,
protection from the cold, and a safe place in which their voices can be heard.

How your donation will be used:
JAR needs your assistance to offer relief this Winter. It is only with the support of donations from our supporters each year that JAR is able to ensure that refugees’ voices are heard. These are often people who without JAR’s support would be unable to find shelter or provide food for their children. Your donation will be put towards a variety of support services, including interpreting, travel expenses, phone calls, and directly to the individuals themselves.
II. Buy merchandise and support JAR
In order to provide a bare minimum of support for the lives of refugees in Japan ? food, shelter, employment ? JAR is promoting Lights for Rights (L4R), a campaign to spread the message about the plight of refugees through our supporters.
